Eighteen years ago I decided to make a simple family holiday card. When I put two-month-old Lila into a hat box I unknowingly created – not a card, but – a tradition that would bring immense joy (a surprising following) and untold creative angst to each and every holiday to follow! Each year I swore would be the last, but there were so many stories to share, animals to pose, puns to hatch...I promised myself I would carry on until Lila turned 18.

                  This is that year.

And in her eighteenth year Lila volunteered for card duty. In a perfect moment of letting life unfold, in the end it was her work of art that brought you here to see where she started.

I've been told many of you have been saving these cards since the beginning. Just wow. For those of you who haven't, but want to take another look, (c)lick the stamps above to see the whole collection.

Now, for one last time: Happy Holidays from the Foxes and the cats, and the dogs, and the hamster and the fish. Hallmark can take over from here.
